Health Insurance Open Enrollment has been extended for Floridians

If you have been procrastinating getting a new policy for 2018 there is good news.  CMS has decided to give Floridians an extra two weeks.

The two week extension is only allowed due to the ramifications of Florida suffering due to Hurricane Irma.  For information on how to get an extension contact Evan Tunis at 561.637.8162.

Why You Should Look at HealthyKids For Your Children’s Health Insurance

A curious development in 2018 health insurance enrollment in Florida has seen Florida’ Healthy Kids program become a great option for parents.  What exactly is Healthy Kids?

Simply a program that allows children access to guaranteed issue insurance no matter the parents income.  If a parent’s income is under a certain threshold they may be eligible for discounted rates as well.

The Kid Care program costs $215 a month without dental or $230 with dental.  In the past these costs were more expensive than a child on their own plan with an AvMed or Florida Blue but that is not the case anymore.   Children ages 4-17 are eligible.

Evan Tunis, Owner of Florida Healthcare Insurance, “With rates being so astronomically high we were looking for solutions that could still provide value to our clients.  The Kid Care program does this.  It provides affordable insurance at affordable rates.”

For children under age 5 they are eligible for Medi-Kids.  Despite the stigma of Medicaid, the insurance is excellent and at $150 a month with no deductibles or copay.

For some families it makes sense to split up everyone to ultimately provide the family with better insurance.

Don’t get ripped off during this 2018 Open Enrollment

With costs of health insurance increasing many are looking for alternatives to alleviate the high costs.

There are some good ones like short term medical insurance or an international PPO if you qualify.

What you don’t want is one of the following:

  1.  U.S. Health Group.  Plans are limited and the costs are high.
  2.  Cardinal Health.
  3.  Any Medi-Share/Christian Health Ministry.  Go ahead and call any cancer center and mention you have this and see if they don’t laugh at you.

Again be smart people.  If something sounds 60% cheaper than anything its probably a turd. If you have any questions you can reach us at 561.637.8162

2018 Health Insurance Rates for Florida

As we approach open enrollment 2018 we wanted to review a few of the options available for Floridians’ specifically in South Florida.

Let’s end the charade-the ACA in 2018 has become unaffordable for everyone who is not getting government assistance for their premium.  This year alone Florida Blue and AvMed have increased their rates by close to 80%!

But have the premium increases come with better benefits?  Nope and in AvMed’s case the network has been reduced to just Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County.

What are your options now?

Well that’s where we come in.  From group, individual, short term, international we have the solution to whatever silly rate you are seeing.  If your healthy there is no reason to pay 1/3 of your income to for a cruddy insurance plan.

Stay Away from U.S. Health Group(Freedom Life)

With sky rocketing premiums individuals are looking for alternatives for traditional ACA plans.  Some of the better ones are short term plans or even a major medical.  What you don’t want is anything from U.S. Health Group.

U.S. Health Group offers incredibly horribly indemnity products mixed in with accident/critical illness plans that make it appear slightly less gross.  But poop is poop.  This group sells themselves by saying they are Cigna a lie again.  They only rent Cigna’s network but and the contract will only pay up to its max.  And what is the max you say?

For a  hospital its $400, $600 or $700 per day.   Sick yet?  Well don’t get cancer or have a heart attack with the max benefits being $2400.

In conclusion if someone comes to you from Freedom Life, or U.S. Health Advisors run away or better yet call us at 561.637.8162

Below is an example their “coverage”

2018 Open Enrollment Health Insurance Options

Hello Everyone,

Open Enrollment for the 2017-2018 health insurance year starts on November 1st.  The carriers that will be off exchange will be AvMed and Florida Blue.

Typically these plans are stronger than plans on the ACA and I recommend my clietns who don’t qualify for subisdies to get on one of these plans.

If you do not wish to have an ACA plan we offer a variety of short term major medical or even some international options.

Comparing Cigna Global and International Medical Group for EB-5 Clients.

We compare and contrast the two best options for EB-5/EB-2 clients.

For individuals coming to the United States getting proper insurance is essential. Currently the two strongest products are Cigna Global and International Medical Group’s(IMG), “Global Medical Insurance.”

Network

First off let’s compare the networks of the two products. The Cigna Global product uses Cigna’s PPO while IMG uses the “First Health Network.” The First Health Network is rather large and widely accepted however we have had issues of clients not knowing if their insurance was with “First Health” or IMG. The Cigna PPO network is elite. The funny thing is this is the only individual product Cigna offers that uses this network. Advantage: Cigna

Price

This is tough to compare apples ot apples but we will try our best. The Cigna Global product is best described as a cafeteria plan. What that means is that you can design a plan with just hospitilization, hospitilization and outpatient benefits, wellness etc. The IMG product is more straightforward with plan levels similar to the Affordable Care Act starting with Bronze all the way up to Platinum. Doctor visits and medicaitons are included in all categories. When comparing a Gold level client to Cigna, IMG was less expensive. Advantage: IMG

The Fine Print

The nice thing with the application and underwriting with Cigna is its simple. With IMG if your are an Expat but just obtained a Green Card you cannot get coverage. In addition if you are age 75 or older IMG will not let you have coverage. Advantage: Cigna

Conclusion

Both IMG and Cigna are big players in the Expat insurance field. While IMG has a nice product we feel that Cigna with 30 years experience in this market is a better product.

Cigna Global Health Insurance for Eb-5 Clients

“Health Insurance.” The words themselves automatically elicit feelings of stress confusion, and sometimes even anger. From Obamacare and Trumpcare to the Affordable Care Act, the options seem to get more complex and choices limited.

For EB-5 clients who are trying to enter the United States, obtaining medical insurance is the last thing on their minds. It isn’t until they are in the county looking at options requiring social security numbers, medical history and limited options that the problem becomes illustrated.

The good news is that Cigna is now offering a solution through their Cigna Global plans. Cigna Global provides health insurance for expatriates and globally mobile individuals. The plans can be perfectly tailored for the needs of your EB-5 clients and their families.

Some benefits of this policy:

• Worldwide Coverage
• Large PPO network with no referrals required
• Avoiding the ACA, Special Election Period
• Social Security Numbers not required
• No waiting period for coverage
• 24 Hour Application Approval
• Customer Service in the language of your clients.
• Cannot be singled out for a rate increase or cancelled.

This product not only covers an immigrant coming into he United States, but also United States citizens to travel abroad. From example, Mark Zuckerberg, a citizen who travel overseas would be eligible for this plan.

For more information on a Cigna Global policy please call Evan Tunis at 561-637.8162.
